A chiller serving The Manor Hospital in Oxford had failed. Under normal supply conditions a replacement unit takes eight to ten weeks to arrive, a delay a live healthcare site could not absorb. Access and location at the plant ruled out a temporary hire unit, so a like-for-like wait was not viable. CBRE needed a faster route that still met the building’s cooling load.
Rather than accept the standard lead time, ASG searched the supply chain for stock alternatives and within 24 hours identified two smaller Daikin chillers held in Southern Italy that together matched the required duty. The proposal went to CBRE’s Head of Projects, Martin McBride, and was approved the same day.
The units were ordered on 18 July, shipped immediately, and arrived three days later. ASG lifted both into place on Saturday 22 July, then worked through the weekend adapting pipework, controls and wiring. Testing ran Monday and Tuesday, with commissioning completed on Wednesday 26 July. Order to handover took ten working days, delivered by a team of twenty.
