Engineered for Education

School buildings never really stand still. Term dates, exam timetables, safeguarding and live classrooms all shape how work can happen, so we plan every project around the school day rather than asking the school to plan around us. ASG has delivered mechanical, electrical, lighting and maintenance work across education since 2001, from primary schools through to universities.

Temperature control

Too hot or too cold, the effect is the same: students who cannot concentrate. Research published in Building and Environment found the pace of schoolwork drops by roughly 2% for every degree a classroom rises above 20°C, with the steepest decline between 26°C and 30°C. That is the range UK classrooms now reach every summer, in buildings mostly designed to hold heat in rather than keep it out.

Server rooms and IT infrastructure

More of the school day now runs on IT, and every rack of equipment generates heat a teaching space was never designed to lose. We install and maintain the cooling and power behind school server rooms as well as the classrooms above them. At UAL King’s Cross we replaced two failed CRAC units (the dedicated cooling that keeps server rooms cold) inside a live university building, with no disruption to campus.

Most of our work in education comes from clients who have used us before, or from referrals by those who have.
