Dover District Council commissioned a new junior school, with T&B Contractors appointed as main contractor. ASG was appointed to deliver the full mechanical and electrical package, taking the design from RIBA Stage 3 through to completion. A new school leaves no room for retrofitting mistakes later: the servicing strategy had to be right at design stage, and coordinated with the architect and consultant team before installation began.
ASG developed a ventilation strategy that combined natural and mechanical systems, balancing air quality and comfort against running cost. Heating was integrated into the lighting system using radiant panels, an approach that freed up space and improved efficiency across the teaching areas rather than treating each service in isolation.
Taking the design from Stage 3 to completion, ASG managed the full technical development and coordination of the MEP works, using BIM to integrate every discipline in a single coordinated model. Clashes were resolved before they reached site, working alongside the consultant, architect and main contractor teams, and the package was delivered in a 24-week programme.
